My family first stayed at Casa Bassa in July 2010 and we returned in July 2012, as we had such a restful stay in the villa. The farmhouse is sympathetically restored, retaining character but with every modern convenience. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Cynthia, the housekeeper, calls in regularly to ensure that guests are comfortable and have all that they require for a relaxing stay, including a welcome gift of a bottle of the estate’s own delicious olive oil. Cynthia’s husband discreetly tends the gardens and we were lucky enough to be given the excess from the vegetable gardens to supplement our evening barbecues. The views from the terrace are stunning, the only noise being the distant bleating of the estate farm sheep. Casa Bassa is such a haven of relaxation that we had to tear ourselves away to visit Orvieto. Ideas of day trips to Rome and Florence were quickly abandoned in favour of relaxing by the pool! We have booked a return stay in August this year and cannot wait.
